Hello friends! Welcome to Peas and Crayons!
In a nutshell, my back story went a little like this... Girl meets art. Girl falls in love with art. Girl spends all her time painting, coloring, and creating until girl starts reading nutrition labels. Girl runs off to study nutrition and gives up design for dietetics. In the process, she learns how to create something different... Food! Before this gets any more complicated, let's just say that this is really quite a love triangle. Even more so when girl met boy. Then the love triangle turned into a square =)
Not to worry though, because this girl found a away to marry all her passions! Peas and Crayons is my virtual sketch book and cookbook all rolled into one, and I can't wait to show you how food can also be art! If you think about it -- our plates are kind of like a canvas! Deck it out with color, and texture, and VEGGIES!
I'll also be tossing in a few extra topics to keep things interesting. Some days we may chat about nutrition, and other days I'll share some fun DIY projects for your home. I'm in the process of buying and decorating my first ever home so a little "Peas and Crayons Plays House" side project is in the works!
With so many food blogs that focus on sweets and meats, this blog will focus on what I consider to be the most important food group: Vegetables! I'll be whipping up recipes that are crisp, colorful, and absolutely delicious. Vegetables are fun! Let me show you how to plan your meals around these fantastically nutritious foods.
My name is Jenn and I'm a Boston-born, South Florida-raised veggie addict that the USMC decided to stick next to a cow farm of all places in North Carolina. At least I'm getting some gardening done in the process =)
+ Then there's the [ABC's of P&C] which is another great way to get to know me!
My kids are really REALLY hairy...
I graduated with a B.S. in Dietetics from Florida State University.
My husband flies helicopters for the United States Marine Corps.
Yup! That makes me a military wife!
We're currently stationed in North Carolina + hope to someday make it to Cali! <3
