What I Ate Wednesday #78 [Food, Fun + Fitness!]

or in my case, What I Ate Yesterday! <3
What I ate Wednesday WIAW #78

[breakfast] black coffee, a slice of super yummy banana-zucchini-flax-walnut bread, and a big glass of water [snack] fresh fruit salad with cherries, watermelon, blueberries, and strawberries [lunch] a honey drizzled croissant, veggie side salad, fish/shrimp tacos, and water [snack] more fruit salad [dinner] a fruit and veggie salad drizzled in strawberry balsamic dressing and a spoonful of ranch dressing [snack] baby carrots and goldfish crackers

Yes I eat extremely healthy for the most part.  Yes fruit and vegetables are the key to my heart.  No I'm not perfect.  After all, moderation is a wonderful, wonderful thing and when the occasional craving for a bowl-o-sugar hits, I'm not one to deny the deliciousness.  Kelly and Ava had never been to a frozen yogurt bar before, so our first order of business when the fam arrived was to hit up Froyo 101 for a treat!

Fro-yo 101 Frozen Yogurt Bar
my teeth hurt just looking at it

This was my second "naughty froyo date" this summer and I loved every bite of it!  Sure I could get a plain, non-fat, sugar-free tart flavor and add some fruit but it's my party and i'll cry if I want to I like sprinkles.  Sue me.

I'll even it out by sticking to naturally sweet stuff for the rest of the week!

Yes veggies will also be invited to the party.  Always.

In other news, I had to resist the urge to title this post "What I Ate Wednesday with a Little Bathroom Humor."  Last night while making dinner, Kelly informed me that my salad dressing had expired.  I explained that it was simply a month past the "Best By" date and was perfectly fine.   I took her skepticism as a challenge and added a spoonful of the expired dressing to my salad.

You can imagine my surprise when I had to lift my niece off my lap and make a run for it after dinner.  When I returned to the kitchen clutching my very angry stomach, the 4 year old prodigy decided to give me the very same advice I had given her the night before.  "If your tummy hurts, you should eat a carrot.  It will make you feel better."

So I ate a carrot =)

I'm feeling much better today, thanks for asking!  Though for those of you who are wondering, yes, my toe is still quite broken.  This is the first bone I've ever managed to break so I'll surely be milking it for all it's worth.  If you want to come over and baby me I won't object..

Speaking of my broken toe, I've been instructed by my favorite RN and EMT sister-in-law that taking my beloved cardio classes on base is absolutely off limits for the week.  They actually mentioned several weeks but I'm not one to sit still for that long.  Kristen wrote me up a mini at-home fitness plan, so I'm excited to try out the moves I can manage while I heal!  Thanks girl!

My friends and I keep discussing how we're going to go out for ice cream all the time.

It's happened once. I'm sad about it. Who knew it'd be so hard to drag someone out for ice cream?!?!

  29. Hope your toe gets better soon. I had my wisdom tooth out this week, so I have been banned from the gym for the week too - didn't think I'd miss it, but I really can't wait to get back. I'm trying to wheedle my way in even just to walk on the treadmill today! I've never been to a frozen yoghurt bar either, but that looks yum!
