When you combine my love for all things tzatziki with my sweet-n-savory obsession, the stars practically align. I've been whipping up this super speedy dip all week and had to finally share the recipe! I was hesitant at first b/c I was certain that posting a recipe that combines cinnamon and dill would have me shipped off to the looney bin buuuuut if this combo is wrong... I don't wanna be right!
Cinnamon-Ziki Sauce
grab a dollop [or more!] of super thick Greek yogurt and add....
a sprinkle of dried parsley
dried minced onion [or onion powder!]
dried dill and, of course, a fabulous pinch of cinnamon
mix well to incorporate and serve it up on anything and everything in sight
I left out measurements since the amount of sauce you need will vary depending on whether you serve this up with warm, toasted pita triangles or plop a dollop onto some super flavorful falafel! Add them in equal parts and then give it a taste! I usually toss in a little extra of each b/c I've fallen absolutely mad for the pairing of these herbs/spices -- Hope you love it too!
Oh and it is baller. I repeat, BALL. ER. over some baked Veggie Patch Falafel =)
While we're at it, here's the recipe for my classic Tzatziki sauce too!
While we're at it, here's the recipe for my classic Tzatziki sauce too!
Tzatziki Sauce
3/4 cup of plain non-fat Greek yogurt [I exclusively use Fage -- it's AMAZING!]
1/2 large cucumber seeded, peeled, and diced/minced or grated
1/4 tablespoon lemon juice
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 clove garlic, minced + smushed
1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped [dried will work too!]
a small sprinkle of freshly ground black pepper
dried minced onions, dried dill, and garlic powder, to taste
Feel free to leave the skin on the cucumber for a little extra fiber! English cucumbers have the best-tasting skin and the least amount of seeds in the center!
or you can dive face first into this Zucchini-ziki Sauce and call it a day! =)

I love all things tzatziki, and now I want some falalfel. Okay you've convinced me, I'm going to try it. :)

ReplyDeleteOMG, you're recipes make me smile!!!!!!! Hahahah, cinnamon is so versatile, isn't it??? Once Ryan made me guac {from a recipe on my blog} and read "Cumin" as Cinnamon and I couldn't figure out WHY the guac tasted so funky.......then he said "Yea I thought it was strange you asked for Cinnamon in your recipe!!" Ummmm....no cinnamon in guac, not good, but ZIKI?! YES PLEASE!!
ReplyDeletexxoo
bahahahaha I wish it WAS good b/c I'd totally make cinnamon guac! =) Though the ziki for sure rocks -- I've made it a few times now and, though I was TERRIFIED, to blog it.. I figured if my picky palette loved it over falafel then others would too! Let me know if you try it gorgeous! MWAH!
