What I Ate Wednesday #41 [USMC Ball edition!]

Sunday was the USMC Birthday Ball!
It was in Downtown Wilmington, NC and could not have been a more gorgeous [and freezing!] day =)
The wall of keys is my favorite!  There are over 30,000 keys hanging from this former construction site, making it a unique work of art that anyone can contribute to.  Every key has a story =)

On the bottom right is a photo of something pretty darn epic...
The site of a future Whole Foods!

Here are my eats from the day.  Random and delicious!
breakfast
dunkin donuts egg white and veggie flatbread + black coffee
liquid snack
gingerade kombucha
[hooray for another bottle to add to my pantry project!]
hotel hydration
english breakfast tea and looots of water
lunch
Nikki's Sushi "Happy Hour"
Half price sushi rolls and appetizers? Hello wonderful!  I had a seared scallop roll with cucumber and a delish cucumber, crab and scallion salad for a whopping FIVE DOLLARS! *swoon* They have amazing sushi at even more amazing prices... so if you want to come visit me... Sushi is on me! =)

Here's where the day got sketchy.  My camera died.
[ahhh how could I forget to charge the battery before the ball!? bahhhhhhhhhhhh!]
We did manage to get a token blurry droid photo though!
Someone wasn't ready for his close-up ;)

dinner at ze ball
salad with tomatoes, radish, and cucumbers and a zesty Italian dressing
a delish and fluffy herbed dinner roll
Sauteed tomatoes, eggplant, and spinach with mashed red potatoes
and a few stolen green beans off  Paul's plate.
water water water
 late night post-ball munchies
black bean quesadillas from an amazing little bar across the street!

So that's what I ate on Sunday.  Your turn!!! <3
Happy What I Ate Wednesday!!!

What an awesome sushi deal! I love how you now view your drink bottles as potential storage containers. I have a jar from some tomato sauce sitting on my counter ready to be turned into something!

Is it inappropriate for you to say that your husband is really hot? Mine is hot too, of course, but his uniform is nowhere near as striking. The air force has these lame lightish blue dress uniforms here, with those with a pea cap. But then, I guess you can't be aircrew in the navy (at least not here). It's silly ice cream hats. When he was in the navy, his uniform was much hotter, and came along a trade-off. Happy WIAW!

errr...that should read "is it inappropriate for ME to say..." Obviously it's not inappropriate for YOU to say that your husband's hot. Unless you're part of some strange fundamentalist religion, I suppose.

I love your dress and overall coupley hotness... even if your other half wasn't cheese ball smiling : )

mmmmm I just love looking at the pics on these posts... they make me so hungry! Now I'd like some sushi for breakfast because I'm appropriate like that. haha

You looked beautiful!! And of course it goes without saying, the guys always look great in their Blues :-)

Nikki's was one of my FAVES in Wilmington when we lived in J-Vegas! And that's SO EXCITING that they're building a Whole Foods!! Just wish they had done it while we were living there!

How do you make your cute picture collages?? Also love your dress!

Looking gorgeous! I simply love sushi, thanks for the tip.

Kombucha is addicting isn't it? I limit how many I allow our household to have a week.

I'm glad even your camera dies sometimes, you look great in your blurry photo. I may take you up on that sushi offer.

Your eats look yummy and you both look fantastic for the ball, Happy Birthday USMC! Where do you get that flatbread it looks so delish.
How exciting to be getting your own Whole Foods. They are supposed to be finishing one up in Greensboro (where I live) by the spring of 2012...to say the least I cannot wait.

Jen, I am so jealous of you getting to go to the ball! I remember my parents always going to the marine corp ball when I was younger and I always wanted to go. Every now and then I try to convince Matt he needs to join the military, the only reason being so I can go to a ball ;) Hope you had fun! Also, what does Kombucha taste like?? Can you get it at publix?
