P's birthday weekend + Raleigh reunion with the bestie + oodles of window shopping
= my kind of weekend!!!
There was also the fabulous addition of Whole Foods, Trader Joes, and a Pit BBQ joint that served the best tofu of my life! Oh yes, you heard me right! This meat-centric restaurant turned out some BALLER barbecue tofu. I was pretty shocked when the boys each grabbed a bite off my plate because it "looked like chicken" and subsequently did not run for the door =)
Speaking of tofu, I managed to eat it a total of three times over the course of the weekend... Crazy coincidence! Usually I have it about once a month, but when presented with yummy options [tofu scramble, bbq tofu, and tofu stroganoff] I can't deny the YUM!
brunch
black coffee
Whole Foods Hot Bar!
scrambled eggs, tofu scramble, sauteed mushrooms spinach + onion, baked cinnamon apples
kombucha [on sale! holler!!!]
liquid snack
water + a redbull
appetizer
onion rings, bbq fries, + fruity sangria
dinner
The Pit's famous barbecue tofu
grilled sweet potatoes, zucchini, yellow squash, mushrooms, + tomatoes
a biscuit + some hush puppies
(totally couldn't finish my dinner it was a freakishly large plate of yum)
dessert
a light beer while curled up watching Forrest Gump w/ my boys
The BBQ Tofu rocked my socks... and made for a pretty plate of leftovers too!
It looks [+ tastes!] like chicken but its noooot! <3 Epic trickery if I do say so myself! The tofu was shredded and then made into patties, grilled, and doused with molasses based and vinegar based barbecue sauces. Sooooo Goooood! If you're ever in Raleigh, North Carolina check out The Pit. And don't pass on the onion rings =) They're sinfully delicious.

Happy What I Ate Wednesday!!!

Grilled food... oh how I wish it were still summer! Gah...
ReplyDeleteLooks so delicious! I'd love to try some tofu on the BBQ!
ReplyDeleteI tried kombucha the other day and it turns out I'm allergic to it. :( I'm allergic to beer as well so maybe there's a connection there.
Crazy timing! I just wrote my WIAW and then opened my reader to find this. Your food is so much prettier than mine! I love the look of those grilled veggies.
ReplyDeleteI was feeling a bit under the weather today, so much of my food was really mushy. I'm such a baby. (Ha! Get it? Double meaning, because babies eat mushy food, and also because I whine when I'm not feeling good. Trust me, it's funny.)
my kind of girl, black coffee! mmm.
ReplyDeleteI stocked up on Kombucha the last time it was on sale - I love it! I have a bottle of the Multi-Green flavour in my fridge that I am kind of scared to try! I fear it will taste like fermented greens powder and not much else, have you ever had it?
ReplyDeletesounds like a delightfully delicious weekend! :)
ReplyDeleteMmm! That BBQ tofu sounds awesome! And dude, I haven't seen Forrest Gump in YEARS!! So many good one liners from that movie! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy WIAW loviekins!

ReplyDeleteThanks! That tofu BBQ sounds delicious. I don't eat it that often but like you when it's cooked well (like at the whole foods bar) I'm all in! Sounds like an awesome weekend! :-)
ReplyDeleteYour dinner looks like a plate of grilled amazingness!
ReplyDeleteAll of the food sounds/looks fantastic, even the bbq tofu! Yummy!! I love these posts!
ReplyDeleteCrazy, that tofu DOES look like chicken! I've never been a huge fan of tofu, but I do admit it's pretty good if cooked to the right texture (aka not rubbery) and in the rights sauce. I did have some fried tofu once that was delicious though- it was all melty in the inside, almost like cheese dare-I-say
ReplyDeleteThat barbequed tofu sounds killer! I may have to make the trip to NC for that alone. ;) And mmm, onion rings...always delish!
ReplyDeleteI need to have barbeque tofu, or at least I need to know how to make it!!! Sounds wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteOMG BBQ TOFU! I've got to get me some of that! Your dinner sounds totally lush!
ReplyDeleteGreat party again Jenn! More love coming your way ;) xx
